Parent participation throughout the season is mandatory and all families have volunteer responsibilities totaling 5 work shifts (or 50 points) for the season. We understand that there are extreme cases where families are unable to meet the mandatory 5 work shift (50 point) minimum, and there is a $175 volunteer buyout fee that can be paid with registration to exempt your family from volunteer responsibilities. Families that do not remit the buyout fee with registration MUST provide a volunteer deposit check in the amount of $175 that will be held throughout the season pending your satisfaction of 5 work shifts (see the Parent Memorandum of Understanding and Waiver & Release of Liability at the Forms page of our website for details).

Step 1 - Go to the website at
Step 2 - Register siblings together to receive the sibling discount and pay the registration fees online
Step 3 - Submit your $175 volunteer deposit check payable to CWST by either handing it to any board member at the pool during the first week of practice or mailing it to:

CWST Treasurer
  13815 Vinehill Drive
Sugar Land, TX 77498

Volunteer deposit checks are due by Friday, May 4th or your swimmer will no longer be allowed to practice, your spot on the roster will not be reserved, and your registration fee will not be refunded. YOUR REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL THE $175  VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT HAS BEEN RECEIVED! Remember that this check will only be cashed if you fail to complete your mandatory 5 work shifts (50 points), and it will be returned to you or destroyed at the end of the season if you satisfy them. If you have any questions regarding volunteering or the volunteer deposit, please don’t hesitate to contact the board @

The goal of the Covington Woods Hope Team is to help potential swimmers (ages 4-8 years as of May 31) learn proper stroke technique and become proficient enough to participate on the CW swim team. The Hope Team was created specifically as a benefit to our CWST family as well as the CW community. As such, priority is given to those with a sibling on the team and to Covington Woods residents (when space permits, others are welcome). The Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, and Junior Coaches help instruct our Hope Team which, for safety and instructional attention, is limited to 18 members and filled on a first come, first served basis. The registration fee is $150, is non-refundable, not pro-ratable, and is not subject to any discount. The Hope Team practices daily after school for approximately 4-5 weeks (see times per the practice schedule on the website) starting at the beginning of May and ending with the Hope Team Meet on the Wednesday before the last day of school in FBISD. (Typically, Hope Team will not practice the day of Team Pictures, Time Trials, or Memorial Day – check the schedule at the website for details). Transition to CWST is contingent on all of the following:

  • Ability to swim one length of the pool without touching the sides, ropes, or bottom and without stopping
  • Number enrolled on CWST (maximum 200 per Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League)
  • Approval by the Head Coach

If a Hope Team member qualifies to join the CWST and space on the team is available, he or she will secure a spot on the team and there will be no extra registration costs (however, a volunteer commitment and $175 volunteer deposit check will be required). At any point during the summer swim season that all of the above criteria are met, a tryout may be scheduled with the Head Coach.

If you are interested in registering your child for the Hope Team, please contact Jenny Miertschin, Vice President, CWST Board, at to be put on a list in first come order. Then bring your child along with either:

1) A CWST swimmer registration confirmation (showing the child has a sibling on the team), or

2) 2 acceptable proof of residency documents from different agencies/companies establishing residency in Covington Woods (examples include but are not limited to a valid, unexpired TDL/voter registration card/CHL/military ID or any utility bill/mortgage statement/bank statement/credit card statement/ preprinted paycheck stub dated within the past 90 days)

to the new swimmer & Hope Team tryouts (see Registration Dates above for details) where the coaches will determine whether your child should register for the swim team or the Hope Team. After evaluating all prospects with a sibling on the team or living in CW, any remaining openings will be filled with new or non CW-resident families. Once practices begin, if a child gets moved up to the swim team, the next child on the list will be contacted to come fill the opening at which time the Hope Team registration fee of $150 will be due, regardless of the time remaining. If you have any questions about Hope Team registration or wish to be placed on the Hope Team list, please contact Jenny Miertschin @
