Did you know? High-level swimmers stretch for over an hour each day, both before and after the workout! Swimming is a sport that utilizes almost every muscle in your body. Spend a few minutes every day (a few times a day) stretching to improve flexibility, improve performance and to prevent injury.
Focus on your arms, shoulders/neck, legs, and ankles.
Hold each stretch 15-20 seconds.
Doing 5 minutes of flexibility work a couple times every day will yield far better results than stretching once or twice a week (or only when you feel tightness or an injury coming on).
Do it at night before you go to bed… when you wake up… and before (AND AFTER) getting into the pool.
Don’t forget to breathe. Concentrate on long and smooth breathes during stretches.
Train hard, (stretch!) and have fun Stingrays!
